The following terms and conditions apply to all footplate experiences at the Strathspey Railway
Footplate Experiences are offered by the Strathspey Railway Company subject to any operational constraints on the day.
Footplate Experiences are subject to a minimum number of bookings being received for a given day. The company reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any Footplate Experience day that is not fully subscribed.
In the event of a Footplate Experience being cancelled due to operational constraints on the Strathspey Railway, we will offer mutually acceptable alternative dates. If this is not possible the Experience fee will be repaid in full.
All fees are to be paid in full at least 7 days before the Experience.
In the event of a participant cancelling a booking, 28 days notice is required for a refund of the fee less a £10 administration charge. If a cancellation is made less than 28 days before the Experience, the Strathspey Railway Company reserves the right to retain the full fee unless the Experience can be rearranged.
Participants must be of at least 18 years of age.
Participants should be physically fit — the Steam footplate can be hot, dirty and noisy, and both Diesel and Steam footplates are about 5 feet above ground level.
Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs (including prescription medication) or stimulants (including 'energy drinks'). If in doubt, consult your GP for advice before booking.
Participants will be required to read and sign a Safety Notice that will be presented during the Safety Induction at the start of the experience.
The Strathspey Railway Company Ltd, at its absolute discretion, reserves the right to refuse access to the footplate to any participant without notice or justification. In such an event the experience fee will be refunded in full.
